Notes and Highlights
Nickelodeon introduced a new block entitled "More Nickelodeon" starting on that day, which expanded the network's weekday hours to 8:30pm. The block consisted of the premiere of Hey Arnold! on Mondays and Wednesdays, new episodes of The Secret World of Alex Mack on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the premiere of KaBlam! on Fridays.
Nickelodeon joined forces with Nintendo and Blockbuster for a $20 million "Spot the Dot" sweepstakes for a chance to win a Nintendo 64 system. While game pieces were distributed a few weeks earlier at Blockbuster stores and through the Nintendo Power magazine, the network would air bumpers beginning on this date during the 8:00pm slot for the next two weeks to remind viewers to "spot the dot".
